Most shots hit in one day trying for Hole-In-One
1817 balls - Harry Gonder 1940
Harry Gonder, an American professional was desperate for the hole in one he never had. He set-up on a 160-yard Par 3 and for 16 grueling hours he hit over 100 balls per hour at the elusive flagstick. On the 1756th try the ball stopped one inch short of the hole. The devastated Gonder hit 61 more shots but to no avail calling it quits after 1817 shots. The National Hole-In-One Foundation calculates that a golfer will get a hole-in-one every 12,000-tee shots. If those odds held up for Gonder it means that he would have had to hit shots for another five and a half days to score his ace.
