Low point, the bottom of the swing arc, is critical for consistently making good contact with the ball. Controlling head movement has a big effect on low point.
How many times have you heard 'keep that head down'. As the basis for good control around the greens keeping your head steady and slightly UP allows for better timing and body control.
In the pics below. The TOP images show a steady stable head and a forward move where the left hip turning starts the forward swing.
The swing below has the head dropping and moving towards the target through impact. This creates a very unstable pitching action that leads to poor contact.
